The ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Refinery has been a landmark in Baton Rouge since its opening in 1909. The refinery is one of the largest in the U.S. (typically second in crude runs behind the ExxonMobil Refinery in Baytown). The refinery and chemical plant complex comprise what many have called the world's most integrated petrochemical complex, turning a barrel of crude oil into more different products than any other similar facility.
