Merchants House, a valuable architectural monument of the city, was built between 1541-1547 by Apollonia Hirscher, widow of the famous county of Brasov, Lukas Hirscher. Over time, the building had different names such as: Hirscher House or Podul Bătușilor.
In medieval times there was a place for the sale of goods made by various guilds, especially shoemakers and furriers.
The 1689 Great Fire and later fires affect Merchants' House. Between 1759-1847 radical architectural changes occur that bring construction in its current form.
