place with historical importance, fortification, Medieval / Middle Ages, city wall, historical building, 14th century construction
Preserved portion of the northern side of the city's defensive wall built in the 14th century, circa 1330-1366. This fortification had the role of defending the Upper Town.
The structure we see today is the result of numerous reconstructions over the centuries, a major restoration being documented in the 18th century. Initially, the wall seems to have been built entirely of stone.
