Erected in 1948, by Laura Gardin Fraser, donated by J. Henry Ferguson who wanted to memorialize his boyhood heroes, General Robert Edward Lee and General Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson. The statue was removed on August 16, 2017, on the order of Baltimore City Council, but the base still remains.
