Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, "Appeal to the Great Spirit" mini park was developed in 1929 in memory of Edmond Burke Ball. Containing the bronze casting of Cyrus Dallin's American Indian equestrian sculpture “Appeal to the Great Spirit”, this park was designed by Alembert W. (A.W.) Brayton, Jr. a landscape architect from Indianapolis. This park's landscape was designed to emulate a western landscape, reflective of the area where the depicted Native American would have originated.
