Historic memorial located at the base of Capitol Hill. It consists of a central statue of Ulysses S. Grant on horseback, complemented by an additional statue at either end of the monument. The Grant statue, which is bronze mounted on a Vermont marble platform, was installed in 1920, while the memorial as a whole was constructed between 1902 and 1924. the monument was designed by Henry Merwin Schrady, and is one of 18 sites collectively listed on the National Register of Historic Places as "Civil War Monuments in Washington, D.C."
