Hampden is one of Baltimore's neighborhoods. It has been a historically working-class residential area, but its proximity to Johns Hopkins and the general trend of Baltimore are leading to its gentrification.

Hampden is best known for two prominent streets. W 36th ST, "The Avenue", the major drag peppered with shops, bars and restaurants and W 34th ST. During Christmas one block of W 34th ST is known for it lavish light displays that tie together most of the houses on the street. It is a frequent tourist stop attracting thousands of people in December.

The street even hosts its own "ball drop" on New Year's Eve.
