Naukan (Russian Adaptation Eskimo nyvukak - turfy) - the abandoned village on Cape Dezhneva. Prior to 1958, is the most easterly settlement of Eurasia, and then gave way to this title Uelen.

Naukan was founded approximately in the XIV century. In 1648, near Naukana was broken one kochey seeds Dezhneva, which now stands at this place several monuments, including a bust for the city Ingegruk, a wooden cross in 1910 and built a monument, a beacon of architect B. K. Semenenko (1956) .

The settlement was disbanded in 1958 as part of a campaign of consolidation in rural areas.
