Little Diomede Island, also known as Krusenstern Island or Inaliq, USA, North America, is a sparsely populated island (mostly Inuit). It belongs to the State of Alaska. The island to the west is Big Diomede, also sparsely populated with Inuit, is part of Russia.

During the U.S.-Soviet cold war it was a very sensitive place as Little Diomede was only 2 to 3 miles from the Soviet Union.

As of 2008, 128 people lived in Diomede, the town on the western side of Little Diomede Island.

It was here that Michael Palin (of Monty Python fame) started and ended his epic Full Circle journey around the Pacific rim and from which Sarah Palin (no relation) ostensibly could see Russia.
