On 10th February 1879 the constituent National Assembly of the Third Bulgarian State was held in the Konak (Turkish Town Hall), which since 1985 is home to the Museum of Bulgarian Revival and Constituent Assembly.
The museum houses the exposition "Veliko Tarnovo - the capital of Bulgaria XII - XIV c.", where thousand years old history and culture of the region of Tarnovo are traced, but the accent is on the period of the Second Bulgarian kingdom.
The exposition was created on 16 November 1985 in relation with 800 anniversary of the uprising of Asen and Peter.
