The regional public library "Petko Rachov Slaveykov" is a library and cultural institution in the town of Veliko Tarnovo.
The Petko R. Slaveykov Library – Veliko Tarnovo was initially established as the third book depository for the country (after the National Library in Sofia and the National Library in Plovdiv). It was founded in 1889 as the first public library in Veliko Tarnovo
The building of the Regional Library is architecturally united with that of the Archaeological Museum and was built in the period 1939 - 1954. The institution itself was established in November 1889. as a "Public Library" with its own seal, statute and regulations. In 1921, through the law on public education adopted by the National Assembly, the National Library in Veliko Tarnovo was established, opened the following year.
