The hot springs were originally used by area Athabascan Indians. During the Klondike gold rush in the early 1900's, many miners went to the hot springs to relax. The hot springs are now a privately-owned resort, open to the public.

The hot spring resort buildings are widely rumored to be haunted: www.uaf.edu/journal/extreme/xdream/Great/ghost/index.ht...
