power station, interesting place, historic landmark
A stylish Romanesque Revival laboratory built in 1892 as the Strecker Memorial Laboratory, the first facility in America for conducting pathological and bacteriological research. The laboratory was closed in the '50s, landmarked in 1975, and finally restored in 2000 after years of neglect and vandalism by Page Ayres Cowley Architecture.
It is now adaptively reused as a MTA power substation.
