Frog Songs/ June Acres (Centre Island, New York)

USA / New York / Centre Island / Centre Island, New York

Estate home designed c. 1900 in the Spanish Renaissance style by and for J. Clinton Mackenzie {architect} on land purchased in 1908 from Jacob Smith and George M. Fletcher.

The Spanish stucco and green tile roofed villa survives with minimal alterations. Note the interesting nautical metaphor of red and green roofing tile on this and the neighboring MacKenzie house. The outbuildings included a water tower, and 2 1/2 story poultry house built in 1916. Both survive but have been converted to residential use.

Mrs. Rusch continued to reside here for over 60 years until shortly before her death in the mid 1970's.

Property has been sub-divided with portion on the western side of Centre Island Rd. developed in the late 1990's.
