One of the highest spots on Centre Island, known as Cyrus' Hill. Land descended in the Smith family through Jacob Smith b 1757 to his great grand daughter Fannie Smith b 1843, wife of George Hewlett Townsend, and ultimately to a number of their descendants including Louise Townsend Doscher, Stephen H. Townsend, Sarah Townsend Scudder, George H. Townsend and Mary Townsend Jaeger. Property subdivided into 3 acre parcels with modern houses built from 1950 through 2000.
