A small community alongside Big Cypress National Preserve, on State Road 29. The population is approximately 275. It was created along the former Atlantic Coastline Railroad. Copeland was started in 1932 in honor of David Graham Copeland, a naval engineer who helped plan the Tamiami Trail and was the starting point of a family-owned farming business. J. B. Janes and Alfred Webb owned property and cultivated tomatoes.
