Ochopee is a hamlet in Collier County, Florida, United States. Ochopee translated to "big field" in Seminole Indian language. It began in 1928 when Edgar S. Gaunt, a Quaker farmer from up north, purchased 250 acres of land from Capt. James F. Jaudon approximately seven miles east of Everglades City. Mr. Gaunt placed his son as managing partner and James T. Gaunt in charge of the new company.

In the first year, the company had grown and cultivated over 300 acres of tomatoes, a large crop at that time. By 1930, the company had developed a packing house, general store, a gas station and living quarters for over 200 people. The town is now famous for having the smallest post office in the United States.
