Montana Rail Link's Bozeman Tunnel is 3,015' in length. This rail line was built by the Northern Pacific Railway, which was completed between Minnesota and the west coast during September 1883. The Northern Pacific was merged into Burlington Northern on March 2, 1970. BN leased the route through the tunnel to Montana Rail Link beginning October 31, 1987.
