Billings is a city in and the county seat of Yellowstone County, Montana, United States. The population was 117,116 at the 2020 census, making it the largest city in the state.
Billings was nicknamed the Magic City because of its rapid growth from its founding as a railroad town in March 1882. The city is named for Frederick H. Billings, a former president of the Northern Pacific Railroad.
