This 7130' long railway tunnel was constructed in 1950 for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, as part of a 12 mile long bypass around the Boysen Dam and reservoir. The CB&Q is now part of BNSF Railway, which continues to operate freight trains on this line.
