551-foot, 53-story postmodern residential building completed in 2003. Designed by Schuman, Lichtenstein, Claman, Efron, the tower is clad in beige brick and set back from a 3-story commercial base. The base has white pre-cast stone piers on black granite bases, and spans six bays on the avenue side, and four bays on 47th Street. The main entrance is in the 2nd bay from the east on 47th Street, where the entire ground floor is recessed . There are glass doors and windows in aluminum frames, and an aluminum-and-glass canopy over the entry. The east bay has an entrance/exit for the underground parking garage, and the two west bays have aluminum-and-glass storefronts. The 2nd & 3rd floors have similar storefronts, each with four large windows, except for the bay above the entrance; it has a recessed, 2-story glass curtain wall angled slightly toward the avenue, with a narrow, flat glass section at the right edge. The west facade on the avenue also has aluminum-and-glass storefronts, with the northern bay's ground floor recessed. There is a terrace atop the base, in front of the set-back tower portion.
The west and east facades of the tower have nine bays, mostly with triple-windows, although there are a couple bays of wide double-windows. The northern two bays and the south bay are set a little further back than the rest. The north and south facades have six bays; the end bays have double-windows wrapping around the corners from the west and east sides. On the south elevation there is a double-window bay at the west, and in the center is another double-window bay flanked by two single-window bays. On the north side the middle bays are grouped together, with three single-window bays and one double-window bay; the eastern of the middle bays ends at the 36th floor. The south facade's bays set back above the 37th floor.
The most notable feature is a 3-bay-wide section of silver glass curtainwall on the west facade protruding from the main mass at a slight angle, running from the 19th floor to the roof line. The ground floor is occupied by Eve Beauty Source, and a Starbucks coffee. The upper floors of the base are occupied by an MMA/Brazilian Jiu-jitsu studio, Star America preschool, Pain Physicians NY and Mount Sinai Doctors. The Biltmore has 464 apartment units.
