invisible, highway interchange / exit
This is cloverleaf partial interchange between Virginia Route 267 (Dulles Toll Road) and Virginia Route 123 (Dolley Madison Boulevard) between McLean and Tysons Corner, Virginia. The only missing movement is from northbound Route 123 to westbound Route 267, which would need to use nearby Interstate 495 instead. The interchange is just west of the split between Virginia Route 267 as the tolled Dulles Toll Road, and the un-tolled, restricted access Dulles Airport Access Road. There is no connection between Route 123 and the Access Road. The Metrorail Silver Line passes overhead on a viaduct through the interchange, turning from following Route 267 east to following Route 123 south.
The interchange was first constructed in the early 1960s as a partial trumpet interchange at the eastern terminus of the Dulles Airport Access Road. The ramps only connected Route 267 to the west with Route 123 to the north. Around 1983, with the extension of Route 267 to Interstate 66, it was reconstructed to nearly its present form, except the movement from northbound Route 123 to eastbound Route 267 had to make a left turn and use the loop ramp. Sometime between 1994 and 2002 an outer ramp was built to replace this left turn be reducing the size of the southeast loop ramp.
