This is a full system cloverleaf interchange between Interstate 495 (Capital Beltway) and U.S. Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) in Merrifield, Virginia, between Fairfax and Falls Church. To avoid weaving, Interstate 495 has collector-distributor roads, while U.S. Route 50 has grade separated, braided ramps. It is further complicated by the proximity of two other interchanges on U.S. Route 50- Secondary Route 650 (Gallows Road) to the west and Secondary Route 6928 (Fairview Park Drive) to the east. These interchanges contain additional braided ramps with Exit 50 and direct connections to Interstate 495. The interchange was first built as a cloverleaf with the construction of Interstate 495 around 1962, and was reconstructed with the braided ramps in the mid-1980s.

  • I just completed drawing roads at this interchange, and it's as nasty as it gets.
