180-foot, 3-story addition to the Javits Center, opening in 2021. Designed by tvsdesign, the $1.5 billion, 1.2-million-square-foot addition raises the facility’s total span to 3.3 million square feet. The facades are clad in a glass curtain wall, except for the west elevation, which has large grey rectangular panels, housing a 4-level, 633,000-square-foot truck facility with new freight elevators and 27 loading docks, as well as 164,000 square feet of meeting rooms above. The centerpiece of the expansion is a 58,00-square-foot ballroom near the top of the superstructure, the largest on the east coast.
