Resort and conference center on the historic Berry Hill Plantation. The Greek Revival mansion house was built in 1839 on what was originally a 3,600-acre plantation. Today, the site encompasses many buildings in addition to the plantation house, most of which are resort and conference facilities. The plantation is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Berry Hill was the location, from 2007 to 2008, of the bizarre and short-lived Founders College. The ill-fated school was never accredited and only attained 10 of the planned 100 students in its first and only year of operation. The school was the brainchild of Gary L. Hull, a professor of sociology at Duke University, and was founded based on the idea of objectivism, a philosophy made famous by the writings of author Ayn Rand. Hull would recede from the running of the college very early in its existence, and from that point there were allegations of professors not being paid and students being attracted to the school under misguided pretenses. The resort facility's own financial difficulties exacerbated the school's struggle to gain traction, which allegedly skipped payments owed to the resort for the use of their facilities. The school closed in 2008. More information:
