Flower Hill Estates is a subdivision of the Incorporated Village of Flower Hill which was built on land purchased from Mrs. Samuell Hewlett. Much of it was developed by Walter Uhl, who started building homes on Country Club Drive in the 1930s. Flower Hill Estates is notable for being one of the first subdivisions to be built within the Village of Flower Hill. Henry W. Johanson of Roslyn was responsible for designing most of the homes.

Uhl is also credited as being one of the earlier developers in Flower Hill, and his construction company was called the "Flower Hill Construction Corporation".

Louis Cicorelli and Alrad Realty Inc. also developed many homes on Wood Valley Lane, Sunnyvale Road, and Cherrywood Lane in the 1950s.
