Central Jail, Jabalpur was the first Government establishment created by the British in 1818 after they took over the city in 1817.Shaheed Meherbansingh (malgujar of Tupa) was the first to be hanged in this jail on the 10th of Aug.1858 for taking part in the 1857 mutiny.
