One of Monroe's three designated historic districts. It is also a nationally recognized. It is named after Louis Alexander de Breard (1762-1831), a Frenchman who were among the first Europeans in 1799 to settle the Monroe area, then known as Fort Miro. He was a contemporary of Don Juan Filhiol (Jean Filhiol).
His homestead is the 1400-block of Riverside Drive. A marker was erected at 1412 Riverside Drive by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
