lake, reservoir lake
Cheniere Lake (pronounced "Shenny“"), impounded in 1946 is the largest lake in Ouachita Parish. It covers some 3600 surface acres at pool stage.
The lake is fed by Cheniere Creek.
Prior to the damming, the lake was three separate lakes Puckett, Middle and Little. The impounding of the creek merged the three lakes into the single meandering Cheniere Lake.
