- Notes: Genesee Park is part of the Denver Mountain Parks system and is located along the Lariat Loop Scenic & Historic Byway. The park provides many great views for photography as well as open space for rest, relaxation, and walking. Genesee and Bald Mountainis are located within the park. The earliest man-made structure in the park is a circa 1860 two-story wood frame residence built by the John D. Patrick family, operators of an early toll road of the area. Other structures include the Chief Hosa Lodge, as well as several picnic shelters, some of which were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The CCC was a New Deal program that operated between 1933 and 1942. It provided work for unmarried, unemployed men who were struggling to find work during the Great Depression.
