"Ivycroft" (Old Westbury, New York)

Estate home designed c. 1891 in the Georgian Revival style by Gage & Wallace for Perry Tiffany who was the grandson of Commodore Perry. It was sold to William Gray Park {industrialist, capitalist, financier} in 1892. Park served as founder and chairman of Crucible Steel Co. of America, director of Mellon National Bank, and owner of Leggett Spring & Axle. In 1920, the estate was sold to Harry Payne Bingham {financier} for $420,000. Bingham served as director of First National Bank of New York and was a member of the New York Stock Exchange.

It was subsequently purchased by architect Eliot Cross {developer, architect} in 1925 who named it "Ivycroft". In addition to being a named partner of the firm of Cross & Cross, he was a real estate developer of Munsey Park at Manhasset. Cross performed alterations including U-shaped stable and garage with stalls for 30 horses and space for 5 cars and removed the west wing and portico.
