Residence designed by the firm of Lamb & Rich c. 1883 in the Shingle style for Samuel Parker Hickley. It was later occupied by Thomas Resolved Williams {merchant, financier}. Williams was the president of Ichabod T. Williams & Sons of New York which dealt in fine woods and vineers. He also served as a director of the Chemical Bank & Trust Co. as well as for the New York Community Trust nonprofit.

The firm of Lamb & Rich is known for their shingle commissions, most notably "Sagamore Hill" which was the country estate of Theodore Roosevelt and "Talbot House" and "Sunset Hall" both in also in Lawrence. This house, however, has been heavily-modified over time.
