Estate home designed c. 1926 in the Georgian Revival style by Charles A. Platt on originally 14 acres of land for Lansing Parmelee Reed {attorney, capitalist, industrialist}. Reed served as a partner of Davis, Polk, Wardwell, Gardiner & Reed and director of Standard Brands and International Telephone & Telegraph Co. He also served as trustee of New York Public Library, Union Theological Seminary, Phillips Andover Academy,YMCA of Greater New York.

The estate gardens were designed jointly by Charles A. Platt and Ellen Biddle Shipman in 1925. Platt also designed a garage, barn, and gardener's cottage.
