 bank, commercial building

4-story Art-Deco commercial building completed in 1929. Designed by Walker & Gillette for the National City Bank of New York, it is clad in white limestone. The east facade has three bays; the extra-tall banking hall on the 2nd floor has geometric carved stone bands in each bay separating a shorter upper window section from the rest of the black metal-framed panes. The top two floors are shorter, with paired windows in each bay, fluted pilasters and carved stone spandrels.

The southeast corner is slightly rounded, with the south facade have three bays; the eastern two have match the bays on the avenue side, while the western bay is spaced further apart and slightly wider. It has three windows per floor at the top two floors, and the 2nd-floor bay is surmounted by a medallion flanked by a pair of stone eagles.

The building is now occupied by Citibank.
