7-story Italian-Renaissance cooperative-apartment building completed in 1893. Designed by as a residence hotel for bachelors, it opened as the Oakdale Hotel. It was converted to regular apartments in 1930, and then to a co-op in 1988, with 36 apartments. Above the 2-story rusticated limestone base, the 5-bay facade is clad in buff-colored brick with exuberant tan terra-cotta ornamentation.
The stone base is painted grey, with the entrance in the 2nd bay from the west, approached by three stone steps. It is framed in darker grey-painted stone, with egg-and-dart moldings and a blue canvas canopy, surmounted by a carved frieze with swags and a dentiled cornice. At the bay to the west is a window with a separated transom, above steps down to a basement entrance, surrounded by a small wrought-iron gate. The three bays to the left have narrow, recessed window and door openings topped by tall, slanted blue awnings. The 2nd floor has five evenly spaced windows, with projecting stone sills and carved keystones. The base is capped by a band course with egg-and-dart molding.
At the brick upper floors, the 3rd & 4th floors are grouped with 2-story round-arches lined with egg-and-dart moldings. The terra-cotta spandrels have carved wreaths and garlands, and patterned bands at the tops and bottoms. At the apexes of the arches are small cartouches. A terra-cotta band course with a stone top sets off the 5th floor, which has square-headed windows in terra-cotta surrounds. The 6th-floor windows are round-arched, with projecting sills and egg-and-dart moldings. A patterned band courses sets off the top floor, which has three windows, narrower in the center. The piers are richly decorated with various foliate terra-cotta ornament, and the facade is crowned by a gold roof cornice with brackets and dentils.
