This is mining lease ML1423 which is for the Angus Place coal mine which is a 50% joint venture between Centennial Coal and SK Kores Australia Pty Ltd, and was purchased 2002 in the Powercoal Pty Limited acquisition. The lease was granted on February 9, 1998 with an expiry date of August 18, 2024 and has an approximate area of 7735 hectares. The authorized lease holder name is Centennial Springvale PTY Limited.

The mine originally started production in 1979 after being developed as an extension of the Newcom Mine at Kerosene Vale. The mining method is longwall and continuous miner and it is capable of producing 4 million tonnes per year of Thermal coal for the domestic market, mainly the Mount Piper and Wallerawang Power Stations. Coal is trucked to the plants on a dedicated haul road. Coal is extracted from the Lithgow Seam and as of 2015 remaining reserves were 60 million tonnes which allows for approximately 16 years of mining.
