  • It is certainly a beauty spot; I have holidayed there, and enjoyed it! However the Grand Canyon in Arizona (which I have also visited) is up to 1800m deep, while the Capertee valley is nowhere near as deep. Which is why is is called a valley, not a canyon. Also, I must dispute the idea that the Capertee Valley is longer than the Grand Canyon - which is 446 km long. The Capertee Valley is not a quarter of that in length. If one seeks a rival for the Grand Canyon, one must try the Blue Nile gorges of Ethiopia. My impressions flying over them were of a scale that rivals the Grand Canyon.
