This is consolidated coal lease CCL702 which is for the Invincible Colliery that has been owned by Coalpac Pty Ltd since they purchased it in 1989. The lease was granted November 26, 1990 with an expiry date of November 24, 2024. The area of the mining lease is approximately 1840 hectares and was originally worked at the beginning of the last century. The mine was originally and underground longwall operation but the longwall system was shut down and removed from the mine in 1988 due to a downturn in the coal industry. After Coalpac acquired the mine it was operated as underground longwall and also and open cut. The seams mined are the Lithgow, Lidsdale and Irondale Seams with a current production rate 1,000,000 tonnes per annum which is supplied to the local power stations and domestic thermal coal producers.
