Cerro Chato VI Wind Farm is located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, about 17 km WNW of central Santana do Livramento, just south of Route BR-293 and on the northeast side of several previous "Cerro Chato" wind farms.
Commissioned in 2014, it consisted of 12 IMPSA IWP-100-2000 wind turbines with a combined nominal capacity of 24 MW.
On Dec 20, 2014, a storm with severe microbursts swept through the area and toppled 8 turbine towers at this and 3 other nearby wind farms, while damaging many others. As a result, the wind farm was left non-operational. In 2018, plans were announced (although with no time line) that they were hoping to reconstruct and restore the broken and damaged turbines.
