Cerro Chato V Wind Farm is located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, about 24 km WNW of central Santana do Livramento and on the northwest side of several previous "Cerro Chato" wind farms.
Commissioned in 2014, it consisted of 6 IMPSA IWP-100-2000 wind turbines with a combined nominal capacity of 12 MW.
On Dec 20, 2014, a storm with severe microbursts swept through the area and toppled 8 turbine towers at this and 3 other nearby wind farms, while damaging many others. As a result, the wind farm was left non-operational. In 2018, plans were announced (although with no time line) that they were hoping to reconstruct and restore the broken and damaged turbines.
