Gibsonton is an unincorporated township or Census Designated Place on the eastern shore of Hillsborough Bay in Hillsborough County, in the U.S. state of Florida. It is a suburb of the city of Tampa.

Called "Gibtown" by some locals, Gibsonton has historically been a popular winter home for circus and sideshow workers, garnering it notoriety as the "Circus Freak" town. Boasting residents such as Percilla the Monkey girl, the Anatomical Wonder, and the Lobster Boy, Gibsonton offered necessary accommodations, such as a special counter for dwarfs at the post office and zoning laws permitting elephants and circus wagons on front lawns. Recent years have seen many of the legendary "freak" residents pass on.

The U.S. Census Bureau defines the area of Gibsonton as being 13.7 sq mi (35.5 km2). The recorded population in 2000 was 8,752 people.
