Hillsborough Bay: not to be confused with Old Tampa Bay to the West, McKay Bay in the far northeastern corner, or Middle Tampa Bay and Lower Tampa Bay to the southwest (all of which combined form the Tampa Bay Estuary.)

Hillsborough Bay is bounded on all sides by Hillsborough County. The south Tampa peninsula forms its western shore and on its eastern side you find the areas of Gibsonton, Big Bend, on down to Apollo Beach, where it meets Middle Tampa Bay. The watershed which feeds the bay is the largest of the Tampa area watersheds and includes the Green Swamp, Hillsborough River, Tampa Bypass Canal and Palm River, Alafia River, Archie Creek, Delaney Creek, and Bullfrog Creek.
