5-story Italianate residential building completed in 1851 as a 3-story rowhouse, nearly identical to its neighbor at 50 West 22nd. The facade is faced in brownstone, now painted rust color. The building was altered for commercial use in the late 1887 for Higgins & Seiter, a company selling cut glass and china.

The former basement became a service entrance, and now has a street-level storefront, painted rust-red. On the left, the original stone stoop with wrought-iron railing leads to a classically-inspired stone doorway with pilasters supporting an architrave and dentiled cornice. To the west is a projecting wood-framed display window containing paired plate glass windows with transoms flanked by slender wood mullions, also painted rust-red.

The original top two floors, faced in brownstone, have three window openings with stone sills and projecting stone lintels which have been closed behind metal plates. The original modillioned metal roof cornice surmounts the facade.

Later tenants included G.S. Davenport (china and glass repair), dressmakers, and Ye Old Brass Kettle restaurant, which opened in 1913. It was again altered for use as a paper factory, which closed sometime around the middle of the century. For a while the building stood vacant and neglected, and the windows were bricked up. It was restored in 2012 and converted to condominium lofts, with an additional floor for the duplex penthouse added on top. The ground floor is occupied by Coughlin Group Insurance.
