The statue has been carved out of a monolithic block of high quality black marble mined in Rajasthan. Besides this statue is another statue of a newspaper vendor, who represents the crucial link between the readers and the newspaper. It is a 12 feet tall statue of a hawker riding a bicycle, selling newspaper, with one copy held high in his hand. The statue is being installed to honour the 4,000 vendors in city.
