Official Designation of Lower Wunna ( Wadgaon ) Dam Irrigation Project is " Lower Wunna ( Wadgaon ) Dam , D - 03005 " . However local and popular name is " Wadgaon Lake / Wadgaon Talav ". Lower Wunna ( Wadgaon ) Dam was constructed as part of irrigation and Hydroelectricty project by Government of Maharashtra in the year 1997. It is built on and impounds Wunna River , Nearest city to dam is Nagpur in Nagpur District of Maharashtra . The dam is an Earth fill + Masonary Dam .The Length of dam is 5330 ( 17486.88 ft ) , while the Height of the dam above lowest foundation is 23.65 m (77.59 feet ) . Project has Ogee type of spillway with 21 radial type of spillway gates ..Length of the spillway is 307 m ( 1007.22 ). Dam's catchment area is 107. 55 Thousand Hectors . Maximum / Gross storage capacity is 152.6 MCM. Live storage capacity is 136.0 MCM. Now a days almost all the water bodies make for good picnic spots. Lower Wunna ( Wadgaon ) Lake is also a popular Tourist attraction for its scenic beauty .
