NYU NoHo Building (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / New York City, New York / Broadway, 627
 university, office building

10-story Renaissance Revival office building completed in 1894 for H. Richter's Sons. Designed by Louis Korn as a warehouse, it spans through the block to Mercer Street. It was converted to offices around 1980 and now houses NYU offices. On the Broadway side, it has a 2-story limestone base, with buff-colored brick above. Brick piers divide the shaft into two recessed bays of three windows each, with metal spandrels and mullions. The bays terminate at the 7th floor with rounded corners. Elaborate Renaissance-inspired terra cotta decorations embellished the eighth floor, and the top two floors were unified by double-height Corinthian pilasters. A regal stone balustrade is perched above the amodillioned and dentiled roof cornice.

On the Mercer side, the ground floor is stone and cream-colored cast-iron, with buff-colored brick above. The 2nd floor has two pairs of round-arches, with the upper floors divided into two bays of three windows each, separated by metal spandrels and mullions. There are small stone cornices above the 7th & 8th floors, and a roof cornice inset between the outer piers. The exposed northern wall is clad in plain buff-colored brick, with a smattering of small windows toward the center of the lot.
