USA / New Jersey / West New York / West 56th Street, 448

3-story Beaux-Arts school building completed in 1903 as a boys' club. Designed by Schickel & Ditmars for the Mission of the Immaculate Virgin, a Catholic charity founded c. 1870 by Irish immigrant and Catholic priest John C. Drumgoole. The stated purpose of the mission was to provide secular and permanent shelter, food and clothing for dependent boys; and to provide secular and religious education. The building is now occupied by Restart Academy, a branch of the neighboring High School for Environmental Studies.

The 3-bay facade is clad in red brick above a rusticated limestone ground floor. There are three round-arches at the ground floor, each topped by a keystone. The western two have windows in green metal framing, above stone paneling, while the east one contains the entrance, with glass double-doors framed by projecting , Doric stone columns carrying an entablature. Below the two western arches are low basement windows with metal grilles.

The 2nd floor has double-windows in green metal framing, with low iron railings at the bases. They are topped by tall stone lintels with metopes at the ends and a scrolled keystone in the middle, surmounted by cornices. The 3rd floor also has double-windows in green metal framing, with bracketed stone sills and round-arches on top that have stone moldings and scrolled keystones. The facade is crowned by a dark-green metal roof cornice with console brackets and modillions.
