 apartment building, commercial building

6-story early-modern residential building completed in 1942. Designed by Samson V. Becker, it is clad in red brick. There are two light courts on the north facade, the east one behind a low brick wall, and the west one above the ground floor. The west facade on the avenue has a third light court, above one of the storefronts that lines the ground floor. There is a small 1-story extension at the south end. The storefronts have a chamfered corner at the north end, and a fluted stone band runs above the storefronts. The main entrance is in the middle wing on 55th Street, with a rusticated white marble surround, recessed glass-and-metal doors, and a rounded, red canvas canopy extending out over the sidewalk. There is a 2-over-2 window on either side.

The upper floors of the middle wing have end bays of single-windows and two middle bays of 3-over-2 windows joined by stone sills and lintels and separated by panels in between with patterns of projecting, vertically-laid bricks. The east wing also has single-window end bays, and tripartite windows in the two middle bays, which are slightly recessed. At the ground floor, the east window is raised and a metal basement door inserted below it. The west wing has only one bay of single-windows, to the west of the two tripartite window bays. At the ground floor, next to the storefront at the end, there is a metal vent and several panels of patterned, projecting brick. The rear walls of the light wells have two bays of 2-over-2 windows, and the side walls have three bays of single-windows, with metal fire escapes running down them.

On the avenue the north wing has two bays of single-windows flanking two bays of narrower windows, while the south wing has two bays of single-windows flanking two bays of tripartite windows. The rear wall of the light court has a bay of double-windows and a bay of tripartite windows, and the side walls have single-windows flanking narrower windows, with fire escapes. The south elevation is browner brick, with another fire escape over several bays of single-windows and narrow bathroom windows. The main facades are capped by white stone band courses with a pattern of rounded segments.

The building contains 102 apartment units. The ground floor is occupied by Noodies Thai Kitchen, and Bocca di Bacco restaurant.
