commercial building, parking garage
3-story garage for Verizon trucks and other vehicles completed in 1980. It is clad in orange brick and beige cast-stone. Most of the building is three stories tall (with additional parking surfaces on the roof), but there is a small 1-story wing at the east end. The main entrance is near the east end of the south facade on 47th Street, with metal-framed glass double-doors set in a glass-and-metal surround and topped by a metal canopy. The ground floor is all brick, with a stone water table. To the right of the entrance, the 1-story section has a pair of vents with decorative metal grilles, below a stone cornice that caps the ground floor along the entire facade. To the west the upper part of the ground floor has slightly-darker brick in thin bands that alternate projecting and non-projecting. There is a large garage door next to the main entrance. Farther to the west are a row of vents like those at the east end, and then another garage door and a recessed metal service door.
The upper floors are brick at the east end, with five bays of almost-square single-windows. A slightly-recessed, vertical band of ribbed metal separates this section from the rest of the facade's upper floors, which are faced in stone, with a long band of steel vent louvers running along both floors.
The wider north facade on 48th Street has a garage door at the 1-story east end. The entire ground floor has paler orange brick on its lower two-thirds, with a shorter stone water table, and darker orange brick on the upper part. Continuing west, the ground floor has several metal service doors, while the upper part of the ground floor has some vents flanking a band of four windows. This is followed by another garage door, and then six bays of paired vents, and then a final garage door at the west end.
The upper floors are brick at the east end, with ten bays of single-windows. The rest of the upper floors are stone, again separated by a vertical, ribbed metal band, and then rows of vents along both floors. At the west end of the roof, there is a covered area with grey corrugated metal on its sides and top.
