place with historical importance, interesting place

Joseph Chamberlian's family bequeathed his estate at Highbury to a Trust, whose Board included a family member and local politicians. The estate covers about 25 acres, some of which is used as public park land, whilst still owned by the Trust. Otehr bits are used by Council departments and businesses, whiulst the remaining bits have lain derelict for years or decades.
The history is not clear at this point, as to when the last Chamberlain stepped down, and when Birmingham city counil took it over as their own. Suffice to say that for some decades, the Council ran it is a Council asset rather than a charitable trust. This became controversial ca. 2000, and local campaigners have sought to hold the current trustees acocuntable for all sorts of neglect.
